GANGNAM VS HONGDAE VS APGUJEONG: WHERE TO GET TREATED IN SEOUL
Three districts, three personalities. A practical guide to picking the right Seoul neighborhood for your aesthetic appointment based on price tier, vibe, and treatment focus.
By Editorial

Seoul's aesthetic clinic geography is unusually concentrated, three or four districts hold 80% of the credible clinics. Each has a personality, a price tier, and a treatment specialisation. Here's how to choose.
APGUJEONG, THE PREMIUM TIER
Apgujeong (specifically Apgujeong-Rodeo) is Seoul's premium aesthetic district. The clinics are smaller, the doctors more named, and the prices the highest. The neighbourhood itself is luxury retail and hotel-feel restaurants, your consultation is sandwiched between Hermès and Comme des Garçons. Best for: complex cases, named-doctor preference, and patients who want the highest quality regardless of cost.
Typical Apgujeong premium: Ultherapy 300 shots ₩1.2M–1.8M, Allergan botox forehead 1-area ₩100K–150K. The clinics are known for highly customised consultations and one-doctor-per-patient continuity rather than rotating staff.

GANGNAM, THE VOLUME SPECIALIST
Gangnam (specifically Gangnam Station and Sinnonhyeon) is the volume tier. Larger clinics with more devices, broader menus, and frequent event pricing. Walking distance from Gangnam Station you'll find 50+ aesthetic clinics, visible competition keeps event prices sharp. Best for: routine treatments at competitive prices, multi-modality stacks where you want one clinic to have all the devices.
Typical Gangnam volume: Ultherapy 300 shots ₩900K–1.4M, Nabota botox forehead 1-area ₩30K–60K. Wider price range than Apgujeong because the tier ranges from premium-adjacent to budget-event.
HONGDAE, YOUNGER, TRENDIER, OFTEN-PROMOTIONAL
Hongdae and the adjacent Yeonnam-dong/Mapo area is the young-skewing aesthetic district. Clinics target the 25–35 demographic with heavy Instagram presence and frequent promotional events. Quality varies, some genuinely-excellent clinics share the district with a long tail of newer, less-tested operations.
Typical Hongdae event pricing: Shurink Universe 300 shots ₩200K–400K, domestic botox 3-area ₩50K–100K. The lowest-cost tier in Seoul for routine work, but verification matters more here than in Apgujeong.
“Apgujeong is for complex cases. Gangnam is for the all-in-one stack. Hongdae is for routine work at the sharpest prices.”
OTHER DISTRICTS WORTH KNOWING
- 01Sinnonhyeon, adjacent to Gangnam, similar tier, often slightly better-priced for the same treatments. Many "event" specialist clinics.
- 02Myeongdong, the foreign-tourist district. More clinics catering to Chinese, Japanese, and Southeast Asian visitors. Mixed quality; verify carefully.
- 03Apgujeong (non-Rodeo, around Garosu-gil), slightly less premium than Apgujeong-Rodeo, with mid-to-high prices and a mix of dermatology and aesthetic specialists.
- 04Seocho, quieter, residential-adjacent, with established clinics serving locals. Less foreign-tourist friendly but often excellent value.

SUBWAY ACCESSIBILITY
All major aesthetic districts are subway-accessible from central Seoul in under 30 minutes. Gangnam Station (Line 2), Sinnonhyeon (Line 9), Apgujeong-Rodeo (Bundang Line), Hongdae (Line 2), Myeongdong (Line 4). Most clinics are within 5 minutes' walk of a subway exit; the ones that aren't will tell you the closest exit and walking instructions when you book.
HOW TO PICK
Match the district to your case. Premium / specialist case → Apgujeong. Multi-modality stack at competitive prices → Gangnam or Sinnonhyeon. Budget routine work → Hongdae or Myeongdong, with extra verification effort. The SeoulClinics directory filters by district, English support, and procedure to make this easier.
