KOREAN BOTOX BRAND TIERS, EXPLAINED: WONDERTOX, NABOTA, XEOMIN, ALLERGAN
A guide to the four-tier botox menu used by every Seoul clinic, what each brand actually is, when stepping up matters, and how to read the price grid before booking.
By Editorial

Walk into any Seoul aesthetic clinic and you'll be handed a price sheet with four columns of botulinum toxin pricing. The same forehead-line treatment can vary 6× between the cheapest and most expensive column. Here's what each tier actually is, and when paying more is genuinely worth it.
THE FOUR TIERS, IN ORDER
Most Korean clinics list the same four brand tiers in roughly the same order: Domestic / Wondertox → Nabota → Xeomin → Allergan (also called "Botox" with a capital B in Korea). The price climb is roughly 1.8–2× per step. The volume of toxin you receive is similar; what changes is the manufacturer, the formulation, and, for sub-tier 4, the clinical trial track record.
- 01Domestic / Wondertox, Korean-manufactured botulinum toxin A, FDA-approved in Korea. Effective and the price most locals pay. ₩19K–30K per area is common for wrinkle treatment.
- 02Nabota, Korean-made by Daewoong, sold internationally as Jeuveau. Stronger global reputation than the other domestics; stocked at most international clinics. ₩39K–50K per area.
- 03Xeomin, German-made by Merz, "naked" formulation with no complexing proteins. Less likely to trigger antibody resistance over years of use. ₩70K–80K.
- 04Allergan / Botox, the original, US-manufactured branded product. Identical bottle to what your American dermatologist uses. ₩80K–120K per area in Seoul.

ARE THEY ACTUALLY DIFFERENT?
For a one-off treatment in a healthy patient, the clinical literature shows tier-1 Korean and tier-4 Allergan are near-identical in onset, peak effect, and duration. The 4–6× price gap is mostly brand pedigree, regulatory cost, and the clinic's margin.
Where the brands genuinely diverge is in three scenarios: long-term resistance (Xeomin's naked formulation has the lowest immunogenicity), high-stakes single events (the consistency of Allergan diffusion is more predictable), and heavy-volume injections like masseter or platysma where any per-mL difference compounds.
“For routine maintenance, Wondertox and Allergan are clinically near-identical. The premium tier mostly buys you peace of mind.”
WHEN STEPPING UP IS WORTH IT
If you've been getting botox for 10+ years and noticed it lasting less long than it used to, switching to Xeomin can reset your antibody response. The naked molecule has no complexing proteins for your immune system to recognise, which extends effective duration in repeat patients.
For weddings, photoshoots, or any one-off where consistency matters more than cost, Allergan is the safest choice. The diffusion profile is the most studied; you know exactly how 4 units behaves at 14 days post-injection.
For routine 3-monthly maintenance in a regular patient, Nabota is the value sweet spot, Korean-made, internationally exported as Jeuveau, and roughly 50% the cost of Allergan with no meaningful clinical difference for typical doses.
READING THE PRICE SHEET
Korean clinic price sheets quote botox in three formats: per area (most common), per unit (less common), and per session (event packages). "1 area" usually means one anatomical region: forehead, glabella, crow's feet, masseter, etc. Confirm what counts as one area before booking, some clinics combine forehead + glabella into "one area," others split them.

VAT is often listed separately. A ₩39K Nabota wrinkle treatment can become ₩42.9K at checkout. Always confirm before booking, and check whether the menu price applies to a 1-session or 3-session bundle.
