POST-TREATMENT CARE: 14 DAYS AFTER BOTOX, FILLER, OR REJURAN

A day-by-day guide to the 2-week recovery window after Korean aesthetic injectables, what's normal, what's not, and when to message the clinic.

The 14 days after an aesthetic injection determine how the result settles. Here's a day-by-day map of what's normal, what isn't, and when to message the clinic.

HOUR 0–24: THE IMMEDIATE WINDOW

The first 24 hours are the highest-risk window for the result. Avoid: makeup on injection sites, exercise, saunas/hot showers, sleeping face-down, flying within 12 hours of filler injection (cabin pressure can amplify swelling). Apply ice in 10-minute intervals to bruise-prone areas if recommended.

DAY 1–3: SETTLING PHASE

Mild redness, occasional pinpoint bruising, sometimes a "tight" feeling for filler. For botox, no visible effect yet, the muscle relaxation takes 5–7 days to begin. For filler, the area can look slightly over-volumised; this resolves as the HA settles. For Rejuran, small "rice grain" papules at injection sites flatten by day 3.

Mild redness and occasional bruising in the first 72 hours is normal and self-resolves.

DAY 4–7: VISIBLE IMPROVEMENT BEGINS

Botox starts working, by day 5–7 you'll notice the muscle softening. Filler bruises (if any) should be fading. Rejuran injection sites are flat and the texture improvement begins surfacing in the second week. This is when you can resume gentle exercise, normal skincare actives, and makeup application over fully-healed sites.

DAY 7–14: PEAK SETTLING

Botox reaches peak effect at day 14, this is when you assess the result and book a touch-up if needed. Filler has settled into its final position. Rejuran texture results are visibly improving but not yet at peak (which comes at week 4–6).

Day 14 is the assessment day. Earlier and you're judging an unfinished result.

WHEN TO MESSAGE THE CLINIC

  • 01Day 1–3: significant pain (not soreness, actual pain), heat radiating from the injection site, sudden severe swelling.
  • 02Day 4–7: persistent firm lumps under the skin, asymmetric swelling that doesn't resolve, signs of infection (yellow discharge, fever).
  • 03Day 7–14: a result that's clearly asymmetric (one brow visibly higher, one cheek visibly larger), or a result that's completely absent at the 14-day mark for botox.
  • 04Anytime: numbness or weakness spreading beyond the injection area, vision changes after under-eye filler.

THE TOUCH-UP QUESTION

Most reputable Korean clinics include a 2-week touch-up consultation in their pricing for botox and filler. If your result is asymmetric or under-dosed at day 14, you can return for a small adjustment at no additional cost. Confirm this policy before you book; some clinics charge for touch-ups, which is unusual at the premium tier.

FLYING HOME WITH FRESH INJECTIONS

Different procedures have different fly-safe windows. Botox: 4 hours minimum; ideally 24 hours. HA filler: 24 hours minimum; 48 hours preferred. Rejuran: same-day flight is fine. Ultherapy/HIFU: same-day flight is fine. Threads: 48–72 hours; 1 week is safer for swelling. Confirm with your specific clinic before booking your return flight.

LONG-TERM CARE

For maintenance: stay consistent with SPF (UV degrades filler and accelerates collagen loss), keep blood thinners minimised in the days before any future injections, and book follow-up sessions on the cadence your specific procedure requires (botox every 3–4 months, filler every 9–18 months, Rejuran every 4–6 months for maintenance).
