REJURAN VS COLLAGEN-STIMULATING SKIN BOOSTERS: WHICH ACTUALLY BUILDS COLLAGEN?
Rejuran and Juvelook/Sculptra/Profhilo are often grouped as "skin boosters" on Korean menus. They work via fundamentally different mechanisms, and you should usually choose one or stack them.
By Editorial

Both Rejuran and the Juvelook/Sculptra/Collaum family of biostimulators get bucketed under "skin boosters" on Korean menus. They both make your skin "better" over weeks. But the mechanism is genuinely different, and choosing the wrong category for your concern wastes a 3-session protocol's worth of money.
REJURAN IS A HEALER, NOT A BUILDER
Rejuran's active ingredient is polynucleotides, short DNA fragments from salmon. The mechanism is anti-inflammatory and pro-healing. It calms damaged skin, accelerates the repair of injury (laser, acne, irritation), reduces fine pore size, and improves overall skin texture. It does increase collagen modestly, but its primary value is healing, not building.
BIOSTIMULATORS ARE BUILDERS
Juvelook (PDLLA), Sculptra (PLLA), Collaum (PCL) and similar products are foreign-body biostimulators. The injected molecule is gradually broken down by the body, and the inflammatory response to that breakdown triggers the surrounding skin to lay down significant new collagen, much more than Rejuran does. Effect builds over 3–6 months and lasts 12–24 months.

WHICH TO PICK, BY INTENT
- 01Sensitive, irritated, post-laser, post-acne, redness-prone skin → Rejuran. The anti-inflammatory effect is the dominant value.
- 02Aging, thinning, lacking density, dull tone → Biostimulator. You want the collagen build.
- 03Combo skin concerns → Stack. Rejuran 1–2 weeks before a biostimulator session reduces inflammation, then the biostimulator builds the foundation.
- 04Want immediate "glow" before a flight → Neither. Use a hyaluronic acid hydration booster (Skinvive, Lilied) instead.
- 05Acne-scarred skin → Both stack with RF microneedling. Rejuran for scar healing, biostimulator for skin density.
COST COMPARISON
A full Rejuran protocol (3 sessions, 2cc each) totals ₩720K–900K depending on clinic. A Juvelook protocol (typically 2 sessions, 4cc each) totals ₩1.1M–1.5M. Sculptra is more expensive per vial but lasts twice as long, working out to similar cost per year. None of these are budget treatments, but they're front-loaded investments that deliver result over a 12–24 month window.
“Rejuran heals what's damaged. Biostimulators build what's missing. The ideal patient gets both.”

TIMING THE PROTOCOL
Both treatments require multi-session commitment, which is the hardest part for foreign visitors on short trips. For Rejuran, the 3 sessions are 2 weeks apart, manageable in a 5-week trip. For biostimulators, the 2 sessions are 4 weeks apart, harder for a typical 1-week visit. Either: extend your trip, return for the second session, or arrange continuation with a local clinician at home.
