ULTHERAPY IN SEOUL: THE COMPLETE 2026 GUIDE

Shot counts, depth lines, Prime vs Amplify II, recovery, and how to read the Korean menu pricing for the world's most-imitated HIFU device.

Ultherapy is the original micro-focused ultrasound device, and Korea is its largest single market. Whether you're booking your first session or comparing five clinics on price, this is what the Korean menu actually means.

WHAT ULTHERAPY IS DOING UNDER THE SKIN

Ultherapy delivers focused ultrasound at three precise depths, 1.5 mm, 3 mm, and 4.5 mm. The 4.5 mm depth reaches the SMAS (superficial musculoaponeurotic system), the same fascial layer surgical face-lifts tighten. The energy creates micro-thermal injury zones; over 8–12 weeks the body lays down new collagen and tightens the existing matrix. The result builds gradually, most patients see peak effect at week 12, lasting 12–18 months.

SHOT COUNTS ON THE KOREAN MENU

Korean clinics list Ultherapy in shot tiers, not sessions. A "shot" is one transducer firing into your skin. The shot count maps to the area covered:

  • 01100 shots, partial face (typical: lower face only, or eye area only). ₩390K–900K depending on clinic tier.
  • 02200 shots, extended partial (lower face + jawline). ₩600K–1.4M.
  • 03300 shots, full face. ₩900K–1.8M. The most common protocol for first-timers.
  • 04600 shots, full face + neck. ₩1.5M–2.8M.
  • 05900+ shots, full face + neck + extended areas (chest, hands, knees in some clinics). ₩2.5M+.

The Korean shot-count system is more precise than the Western "by area" pricing, but compare apples to apples, always check the same shot count across clinics.

PRIME VS AMPLIFY II, WHAT CHANGED

Ultherapy Prime is the current flagship platform; Amplify II is a refinement of the original device with deeper penetration on certain transducers. Korean clinics often list both as separate menu items at different price points. For most patients the difference is marginal, Prime's core value is faster session time and improved patient comfort, not a fundamentally different result.

If you have moderate jawline laxity and a low pain tolerance, Prime is the better fit. If you're looking for the deepest possible SMAS reach for advanced sagging, an experienced injector with the original probes can still produce slightly more aggressive results.

Ultherapy lifts the foundation. Don't expect peak results before week 12, the collagen remodelling takes time.

PAIN, DOWNTIME, AND POST-CARE

Ultherapy hurts. The 4.5 mm depth is felt as deep heat-and-pressure pulses, particularly along the jawline and over the cheekbones. Most clinics will offer an oral analgesic 30 minutes pre-procedure and topical numbing on the treatment area. Some patients tolerate the procedure clean; others find it the most uncomfortable non-surgical treatment they've had.

Downtime is minimal. Mild redness for 1–2 hours, occasional pinpoint bruising along the jaw, possible numbness or tingling for a few days. You can fly the next day, exercise within 48 hours, and return to normal skincare immediately.

Recovery and gradual collagen remodelling timeline after Ultherapy
Visible lift typically appears at weeks 4–6 and continues building through week 12.

WHO ULTHERAPY IS FOR

Ultherapy is best for early-to-moderate skin laxity in patients aged 35–60: jowling, mid-cheek descent, neck banding. It's NOT a substitute for surgery in cases of significant excess skin, and it's NOT the right choice for patients chasing a "lifted" look in their 20s with minimal laxity, the result will be invisible.
